Kentucky Law Journal

The print Journal welcomes the submission of articles for volume 116. We seek to publish legal scholarship covering a broad range of topics and prefer articles around 25,000 words (including footnotes). Submissions must be typed and double-spaced with footnotes rather than endnotes. Citations should generally conform to The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation (22nd ed.). The author’s resume or a brief biographical statement should accompany the manuscript. Cover letters are also welcome, but not required.

We do not consider manuscripts written by current law students who are not students at the University of Kentucky College of Law.

We will also consider manuscripts to be published on our website, Kentucky Law Journal Online. Typically, online articles are 5,000 words or less, do not exceed 60 footnotes, and conform to The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation (22nd ed.). Please recognize the word and footnote limitations as guidelines rather than strict rules. We accept submissions for online articles throughout the year. Please indicate in your cover letter if you would like our Editorial Board to consider your manuscript for publication online.

KLJ will consider pieces on a rolling basis over two periods of consideration: September–November 2026 and February–April 2027.
